The specified truck entered serial production in 1981. It was produced in the city of Naberezhnye Chelny at the enterprise “Kamaz”. An innovation of this version was to reduce weight. Nevertheless, payload increased by about a hopper and became 7 tons. In addition, this Kamaz had the ability to attach a trailer, which was actively used for logging. This version of the vehicle was also characterized by high reliability, resistance to overloads and the ability to perform tasks in quality areas.
There are also more exotic versions of the truck. Thanks to the positively proven base of the Kamaz-4310, an armored personnel carrier Typhoon-1 was created on its basis. This model has a cabin for soldiers and strong armor plates in the front end, which easily copes with the task of protecting the crew in the cabin. There was also a sport version of the truck called Kamaz-C4310. As you understand, the index “C” in the name “Sport” means. Such models not once took part in rally races. In special racing models at the expense of some structural changes could be achieved an increase in power by 80 hp.

Transmission on the Kamaz
The Kamaz-43101 is equipped with a five-speed manual transmission. The transfer gearbox is equipped with a two-speed gearbox. The torque in a certain ratio is distributed between the front and rear axle of the truck. This is accomplished through the presence of a planetary-type cylindrical center.

- 43115. This modification belongs to the category of civil transport vehicles;

The main engine for this model is a four-stroke overhead valve turbodiesel KAMAZ 740.10-20. This eight-cylinder power unit is distinguished by a turbocharger, intercooling and V-shaped cylinder arrangement. The engine has a displacement of 10.86 liters and develops a rated power of 220 hp. KAMAZ 740.10-20 diesel engine was designed in the early 80’s of the twentieth century, so it is not environmentally friendly and has a Euro 0 mark under this standard.
The vehicle is equipped with two fuel tanks of 125 and 170 liters. Fuel consumption of KAMAZ-43101 depends on the time of the year, operating conditions, and the condition of the main components of the truck. If driving on an asphalt highway at 60 km/h in summer the fuel consumption is 30 liters per 100 kilometers.
Transmission, brake power circuit
KAMAZ-43101 is equipped with a domestic five-speed gearbox, equipped with synchronizers for all gears except the first. There is also a transfer case with a two-stage reducer and lockable center differential. The transfer case is controlled remotely by an electro-pneumatic shift actuator. The gearbox is also used to drive the winch, if this is provided for in the configuration.
The machine is equipped with four braking systems: main, parking, auxiliary and backup. The main brake is drum type, with 400 mm drums, cam mechanism and 140 mm wide brake shoes. The pneumatic system is equipped with thermodynamic drying of compressed air.
Operating voltage of the KAMAZ-43101 electrical system is 24 volts. Power is supplied by two 12-volt batteries with a capacity of 190 Ah. The vehicle is also equipped with a two-kilowatt generator with voltage converter.

I own KAMAZ-43101 lumber truck for more than ten years. When buying the truck the main criterion was its cross-country ability, because there are no roads where I work. I was not mistaken in the choice – it is a true cross-country vehicle: it drives in the mud and gets out of any swamp. The engine, gearbox and clutch are very easy to maintain and repair, it’s important not to forget about the timely maintenance and lubrication. I will not say anything about the comfort in the cabin: there is nothing there, but the green color is nice – the dirt is not so noticeable.
