The Three Goddesses. We test Elitech KB 470M3, KB 600 and KB 700M3 motorblocks / 15
A power tiller in the village is a pressing issue. The list of cases in which it finds application is very extensive: it is many works in the vegetable garden (plowing, cultivation, preparation of beds, plowing, harvesting root crops); it is mowing grass, including hay; it is cargo transportation. Additional features may be added as new devices become available.
This fall we tested three power tillers from Elitech’s extensive range and in this article we want to share our impressions. Below are specifications, descriptions and reviews.

The three Elitech power tillers – KB 470m3, KB 600 and KB 700m3/15 – differ greatly in their technical characteristics. KB 470m3 weighs “only” 76 kg – this roughly corresponds to heavier cultivators, but for a walking tractor-loser this weight is quite small. For comparison – KB 600 weighs 96 kg, and 700 m3/15 – all 156.

The power of the engines is also different. The KB 470m3 and KB 600 are both equipped with the same 212 cc Upper OHV engine that produces 7 hp. S. at 3,600 rpm. The KB 700m3/15 engine has a 420 cubic inch displacement and a power output of 15 hp. С. All engines are gasoline.
There is a significant difference in the design of the transmission. The KB 470m3 has belt clutch and chain drive. However, gear shifting is done in the gearbox, with a lever, and the two belts on the clutch easily duplicate each other, increasing the reliability and life of the machine. When the clutch is engaged, they work in tandem.
Elitech KB 700m3/15 with hay
Other tractors with a staggered engine have a gearbox, a disc clutch – this design is designed for much heavier loads. Accordingly, they are much more productive when working in the fields, and pull the trailer with more confidence. At the same time, the KB 470M3 and KB 700M3 / 15 wheel axles rotate at low speed in first gear, so that the implement is operated as efficiently as possible. It often happens that a tractor with a walking engine “runs” faster than the mower has time to mow thick grass – no such effect with the models presented, thanks to the lower-than-normal speed in first gear.
Elitech KB 470M3 is the best option for private households, for those who live out of town and keep a yard “for themselves”. It already has a wide range of tillage equipment and a haymaker. It is front-mounted, takes no more than a few minutes and is powered by the PTO.
The rotary mower cuts the grass with two rotating plates with blades attached at the edges. It immediately rakes the grass into a swath, making it ideal for both weed control and hay-making.
The KB 470M3 comes with 4.00-10” pneumatic wheels, which have an outer diameter of just under 50 cm and a width of about 10 cm. On these wheels, it confidently pulls the trailer with the operator and the mower not only in the fallow fields, but also on eroded soil. We don’t even need to mention the autobahn (though tractors with walking wheels are not designed for driving on public roads). And all this without wheel weights, they will appear in the Elitech program by the beginning of the next season.
The second model – KB 600 – in appearance and design is very similar to KB 700M3/15, only one and a half times lighter and with approximately half less power. These machines have a downshift transmission, PTO for control of attachments comes from the shaft located at the rear. Therefore, when operating the mower, the handle rotates 180 degrees. The gear shifter jams forward, but it doesn’t matter because the machine is going in reverse, and it only has one reverse gear. I put it on, and while you’re mowing the grass, you don’t touch the shifter at all, you just engage the clutch.
The KB 700M3 / 15 on standard wheels over half a meter in diameter easily tows a loaded trailer over both high grass and muddy dirt roads
The KB 700M3/15 comes with large 5.00-12” wheels. The top speed with the trailer is about 12 km/h in third gear, and the maximum trailer weight the KB 700M3/15 can tow is up to 500 kg. Please note that this is the gross weight including trailer and driver. A tractor with a walking reverse will pull even more, but remember that it has no brakes of its own, they are only on the trailer. This road train speeds up briskly on its own, and you can stop it only with brakes. So, don’t overload it.
Elitech KB 600 with full set of knives
Cultivation width in the KB 600 reaches 86 cm with a full set of choppers installed, in the KB 700 m3/15 – 130 cm. These 130 cm are not only excellent due to the high performance, but also due to the high weight. Of course, we are talking about regularly cultivated soil. We did the test on a field that had been fallow this year and ploughed a year ago. If it had been a country that had not been touched by the plow for many years, the picture would certainly have been different. Then it would be necessary to remove some of the cutters, to reduce their depth, to pass the same area by different methods… The ways to process such areas have long been invented, but the most effective is the first time to plow with a tractor. The running tractor will cope with the task sooner or later, but what condition will its operator be in? It is extremely difficult and sometimes traumatic for hands and back to plow virgin land. It is better to use machines for their intended purpose and not to overload them. Then the walking tractor will serve longer and your health will be stronger.
