KAMAZ-65224: Truck with increased payload
The model was put into production in 2008 and is still in production by the “Kamaz-Avtomobile” system. Kamaz-65224 is designed for transportation of heavy loads. The truck is available as a flatbed or self-lifting version. This chassis is a base for military modifications, assortment trucks, balls, crane equipment and other structures.
By design, the KAMAZ-65224 is a three-link frame vehicle with the six-six wheel configuration and single tires. The engine is traditionally located at the front of the frame under the folding metal underhood cab. Auto – inside seat is equipped with two or three air suspension seats (now the manufacturer installs Grammer seat). Depending on the modification there could be a sleeping place in the cabin.
After 2010 the Allrain received a new, more ergonomic and informative dashboard, and a top version with air conditioning and Russian standard tachograph. Usually the truck is equipped with a fan and dry hair dryer. It is worth noting that there is a “Northern Execution” option, which allows operating the Kamaz-65224 at temperatures from 55 to +350° C.
You can find a lot of ads on the Internet about the sale of various modifications of the vehicle. Prices for Kamaz-65224 chassis start from 4,300,000 rubles, a new truck with additional modifications can cost 1,100,000-1,500,000 more. The cost of a used Kamaz-65224 depends on its condition and year of manufacture. Small trucks from 2014 – 15 years of production can be bought at a price of 2.5 million rubles.

Engine and fuel consumption of Kamaz-65224
Most vehicles of this model are equipped with one of three diesel engines of domestic production.

Kamaz-740.632-400. Eight-cylinder turbodiesel with V-shaped cylinders, turbocharging technology and boiler air middle cooling system. The engine is equipped with Common Rail fuel system. It also has Adblue technology, which is responsible for neutralizing exhaust gases. The displacement of this engine is 11.76 liters, with a rated output of 400 hp at a crankshaft speed of 1,900 rpm. According to environmental parameters the engine meets Euro-4 standards.
KAMAZ-740,735-400. The electric unit has the same properties as the previous engine. However, due to its settings it meets the EUR 5 standards. This eight-cylinder turbodiesel is most often summarized with the Bosch fuel system.
Kamaz-740.60-360. Bort and Muldenwagen trucks are most often equipped with this eight-cylinder engine. The power unit has a V-shaped arrangement of cylinders, its rated power is 360 hp with a working volume of 11.76 liters. The engine is usually paired with the cold-air technology provided by Common Rail fuel system.
The KAMAZ-65224 is equipped with a 550-liter fuel tank. Fuel consumption depends on the technical condition of the vehicle and its operating conditions. In summer, when operating on asphalt roads, the truck consumes about 36 liters of diesel fuel per 100 kilometers. When operating in the conditions of the far north, this figure can increase significantly.
Transmission, brakes and power supply of Kamaz-65224
The vehicle is equipped with a 16-speed manual transmission ZF 16S1820, which provides high traction of the entire vehicle and good dynamics of acceleration. Interaction of the engine with the speed transmission gorge is provided by a ZF & SACHS MFZ 430 single diaphragm radiator. The truck is also equipped with a two-stage gearbox with lockable differential.
KAMAZ-65224 is equipped with pneumatic brakes of drum type. Diameter of brake drum is 420 millimeters, width of brake shoes is 180 and 150 mm for rear or front axle.
The car’s electronic units and electrical circuits are powered by two 12-volt batteries with a total capacity of 380 ah. There is also a three-kilowatt 28-volt alternator and voltage regulator.

There are no special problems on the military-65224, in terms of engine and transmission reliability. It could have been a good car, if not for two circumstances: the terrible workmanship and the outdated cab with a cold sleeping compartment.
KAMAZ-65224 (6×6) chassis
The three-axle all-wheel drive chassis KAMAZ 65224 (wheel arrangement 6×6) is specially designed to work in difficult conditions requiring high cross-country ability. This chassis has proven itself in regions with harsh climate and difficult terrain, including the Far North, and is often used in the oil and gas industry.
