Capistoni Tetri – grapes.
Rito grape was bred by Moldovan breeders. It is rich in macronutrients: sulfur, iodine, zinc, ascorbic acid, etc. Bred for technical purposes – Riton is considered a wine variant, but it is ideal for making juice.
Growing Reton grapes
Plant Characteristics
Riton grape variety refers to hybrid grapes. The bush is large. It is formed with the help of a trunk. The vine is cut to 6 eyes. Maturation at home occurs in mid-September. The growing season of garden culture is 140 days.
According to the description, the berries are large, round. The bunch is large in size, its weight is about 200 g. The cellular material is dense. The ripe berries are white, have a rich taste with a pleasant aftertaste. Fruits have a pleasant aroma with notes of flowers and musk.
Grapes
If you grow grapes, you should follow a number of rules:
- The place for planting individual bushes is chosen in advance.
- Planting material is selected in advance. Varieties are chosen based on the purpose of growing berries. The material is necessarily chosen of high quality and purchased from reliable sellers.
- Seedlings are prepared before planting in the ground. The stem is cut off from 2 sides and left in water for 24 hours.
- For several years from the day of planting, the seedlings are cared for constantly.
- Successfully survived the growing season means that the young shoots are far from all overwintering.
- The bushes are seeded, the eyelets are annually cut back and the green shoots are broken out.
- The plant is covered for the winter. To do this, use polyethylene film and wrap the bushes in several layers. Despite the fact that Riton has a high resistance to frost, it is better to be hedged.
According to the description, the optimal scheme of planting – 3 bushes per 1.5 m.
Care for the plant
Proper care increases the productivity of the system
Riton needs special care. According to the description, pruning is carried out in the fall. It is carried out at 5-6 eyes. With the right intervention, the size of fruits increases and the level of application of the plant increases.
Watering
Riton needs a lot of water. The system is irrigated for 10 minutes once a week. Use a hose.
fertilizer
Use compost or humus at the planting stage, placing it in the bottom of the hole. Gurts are created on top. They help to maintain the necessary moisture for normal development of the root system and the bush as a whole. As soon as the young shoots reach a height of 15 cm, water-soluble additives are used. Feeding is carried out during watering.
The second feeding is applied before the flowering of the plant, the third – after about 5-7 days.
Diseases and pests
Each grape variety can be damaged by parasites or diseases. The Rito grape variety is susceptible to fungal diseases, which occur due to weather conditions and high humidity. For this reason, about 30% of the crop is lost, and sometimes up to 50%. To save it, agricultural and chemical measures are taken.
Infectious diseases are possible:
- Anthracnose. This is a fungus that affects leaves, shoots and even berries. The main sign of the disease is the appearance of brown spots surrounded by a white border. The places where the spots are located die. To cope with the disease, the plant is treated with fungicides. Burgundy Blend, Ridomil or Cuproxat are ideal.
- Mildew. The second name of the disease is mildew. With this problem, all green parts of the plant are affected. The first sign is the appearance of a round oily dot. To combat it, fungicides are also used. A total of 3 treatments are carried out. The first – as soon as the young shoots reach a length of 20 cm. The second – during flowering. The third – if the grapes are the size of a pea.
- Grey rot. This is the most dangerous disease of grapes. The first sign of the disease is damage to the green parts with lazy gray spots. Gray rot is treated the same way as other diseases of the fungus group. The main thing is to treat the plant with fungicides in time to prevent the development of the disease.
Capistoni Tetri – grapes.

The berries are medium-sized, rounded, greenish-yellow with a tan spot on the sunny side. The skin is quite thick, rough. The flesh is juicy. Taste common.
Variety characteristics. An ancient Georgian variety, now no longer of industrial importance. There are permanent stocks mainly in Imereti.
Capistoni Tetri is a typical wine variety of relatively early maturity. This variety is harvested in Zestapon district in the second half of September. Its growth is medium and the maturation of the vines is good. The bunches of Capiston Tetri are produced in large quantities, but because of their small weight, the yield of the variety usually does not exceed the average. In the humid climate of West Georgia, the variety is very badly affected by scab.
Capiston Tetri is characterized by the ability to constantly maintain the acidity of berries with a relatively high sugar content (up to 23-25%). Therefore it produces high-quality white table wines and sparkling wines.
The sort is included in the standard notes of some Georgian varieties. SSR.
Rkatsiteli – the most common grape variety in Georgia
Rkatsiteli is the most common grape variety in Eastern Georgia. It belongs to the group of technical sorts of the Black Sea basin. It is translated from Georgian as “red vine”.
The variety of grapes growing in Georgia exceeds 500 varieties. But among the most common ones we can name no more than twenty. The main positions in terms of area and harvest volume are occupied by red Saperavi and white Rkatsiteli. You can taste these beautiful grapes in one of Georgia’s resorts Mtskheta, Adjara, Batumi or Borjomi. No matter where they come from, Rkatsiteli is available everywhere.
Characteristics of the rkatsiteli grape
Differential characteristics of the variety:
- Strong pyramidal bush;
- Cones, medium to large slightly split leaves with three or five lobes;
- Cylindrical or conical, often long-conical medium-sized bunches up to 15 cm long and up to 8 cm wide, weighing up to 165 g;
- The berry is rounded or oval, measuring 14×18 mm, golden yellow with brownish tan, rarely pink;
- Thin but firm skin and juicy flesh.
From the appearance of the first leaves to the appearance of the first berries cover at least five months.
The beginning of harvesting is in the first days of October. Rkatsiteli are characterized by inconsistent harvests: 150 ° C can be harvested at most per hectare, but with undesirable weather conditions the harvest can drop to 90 ° C/ha.
Rkatsiteles are afraid of oidium, mildew, and pests such as leafminer and spider mite. Resistant to grey rot and phylloxa. It does not tolerate drought, requires watering, but is relatively resistant to low temperatures – it can withstand frosts up to 30 degrees C.
Percentage composition of the brush or technical properties of the variety:
- Juice – 80%;
- Grass – 3 %;
- Seeds, peel, pulp fibers – 17 %;
- Sugar content 17-23 %;
- Acidity 7-9 g/l.
This variety is achieved due to its special flavor, in which the main tone of field herbs and flowers is combined with light citrus notes of grapefruit.
Characteristics of cultivation technology and region
The homeland of this grape is considered P. Zinandali in the Telvi region, and the main area of distribution is Kakheti. Rkatsiteli grows in Ukraine, but gives less sugar.
The best climatic conditions for growing this variety were formed at an altitude of 400 to 700 meters above sea level. Fertile, moist clayey or sandy soils are ideal for Rkatsiteli vineyards.
Because the shoots of this variety tend upwards, the branches should be positioned horizontally. This arrangement provides the brushes with air and sunlight.
In southern Georgia, rkatsiteli cannot be covered for the winter. But closer to the central part and in the east, despite their frost resistance, they require protection from the cold.
Georgian wines from rkatsiteli grapes
This variety is a versatile staple in the production of many white and rosé weeps, brandy and grape juices. Rkatsiteli makes table wines by Kakhetian and European technology.
Kakhetian technology is based on processing the grapes together with the crest, which gave the wines buy tartlets, softness in flavor and pleasant fruity aroma with notes of nobility.
This technique is used for every variety of white grape. The only conditions are a minimum sugar content of 21% and an aged crest.
Non-cut wines are very useful due to their content of phenolic compounds. However, these compounds only come through with a full fermentation cycle and watery shuttles of the fermented aging. The resulting wine must contain at least 12% alcohol.
At the beginning of the 19th century in Georgia they began to use the European technology of wine production. Its peculiarity is fermentation of pure grape juice without pulp (pips and twigs). The skins remain for the red wines, which is inadmissible for the white ones. Raw material for white wine is filtered and fermented absolutely clean without impurities.
The wines produced by European technology have a soft, even taste and low astringency.
The best wines are Rkatsitator, which is harvested in mid-October with an absorbency of 19 to 20.5% and an acidity of 9 to 9.5 g/l. In Kakheti and Kartli these are PortaNakhifen, Madera Hirsa, the original Saamo spirit wine, and Eniseli brandy.
Monorant wines from the rkatsiteli variety contain 10-12% alcohol and have an acidity of 4-7 g/l. They can be blamed as:
Through other grape varieties, rkatsitator grapes are produced:
Table wines from Rkatsitator have a distinctive aroma, an abundance and freshness of fruit flavor, and a straw color.
Description of the Riton variety, main advantages
Riton grape variety was bred by several breeders in Moldova. Most people liked it and began to actively distribute it in other countries. It contains macronutrients (chlorine, sodium, sulfur), microelements (zinc, iodine, chrome, boron), glucose, fructose, various enzymes, ascorbic acid and pectin. This variety is characterized by its harmonious taste, juicy flesh and pleasant aroma. It ripens in early to mid-September and is a technical variety, which means it is used to make juice and wine. It is grown mainly in the Lower Dnieper region of the Russian Federation.
Riton grapes were bred on the basis of several other varieties.
Variety description
- The official description of the variety gives the following characteristics of the culture:
- The bunches are the size of the palm of the hand with a beautiful decent shape is noticeable in the form of a cone. Scientists have determined the average weight of bunches about 200 grams. Some specimens can reach a larger size. The density is average.
- The berries are about the same size, yellow-green in color, weighing two grams.
- The bushes are strong. Planted at a distance of 1.5 meters.
- The variety is resistant to severe frosts up to minus 27 degrees, so it can exist in non overloaded soil. However, experts recommend covering the grapes with leaves, floor or white polyethylene film, somewhere after October 10 has not yet come.
Diseases of the variety Riton
Riton is resistant to the most impressive disease – Mildu. The probability of infection is two to two and a half points. But diseases such as oidium with an infection group of three to three and a half points and sulfur rot with an infection of three and a half to four points are dangerous for grapes, so the plant should be treated with protection against these diseases. It shows weak resistance to phylloxia in a four-point infestation zone. The current variety is characterized as quite productive and yields at least 130 quintals per hectare. Ripening of berries occurs in 140 days.
Care of the crop
The vineyard must be well maintained if you want to get a good harvest in the following years. Different seasons require different care. Plant the crop in mid-autumn. Choose an open place for planting, since this variety is a light-loving plant. Pruning grapes should be done in the fall by four to six eyes. Proper pruning can change the size and quantity of the crop for the better. Summer care is invaluable for keeping the crop in good condition. The condition of the fruit can worsen due to weeds sprouting, which should be removed as soon as possible.
Water the crop for ten minutes once a week. Water-soluble fertilizer can be added to the water.
Choose an open area for planting, as this variety is a light-loving plant.
The benefits of using Riton berries
- immunity strengthening.
- normalize blood pressure.
- Eliminate pain in the joints.
- Improves sleep.
The use of grapes or freshly squeezed grape juice is recommended for diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, asthma, pneumonia, pleurisy and diseases of the cardiovascular system. You can use it to overcome headaches and fatigue. Drink undiluted grape juice on an empty stomach, it will give you energy and strength for the whole day.
The harm of eating Riton berries
It is not recommended to consume this variety with cirrhosis of the liver, diabetes, colitis, as well as people who are overweight. There is a misconception that grapes cause weight gain, but this is not true. Weight is gained not from grapes, but from the appetite that wakes up after consuming them. The caloric value of grapes is 66 kcal per 100 grams.
Making wine from riton berries
Since this variety is technical, it is common to make champagne and juice from it. Wine can be made from a single variety as well as from several varieties. Winemaking consists of the following processes:
The first step is the preparation of the grapes. The grapes are carefully sorted and inspected, under no circumstances should the grapes be washed before pressing. In addition, the berries must be crushed until the mash is formed, the berries are poured into a large basin and crushed by hand. After the fermentation reaction of the drink, the wine is infused, and the last step is to use the product. The Riton grape has a light color, a pronounced fruity aroma and a subtle sweet taste. Its tasting score is between eight and nine.
From this we can conclude that this grape variety is not a caprice of natural conditions, but requires care to get a good harvest. Grapes are an irreplaceable part of our diet, thanks to which our body gets all the necessary nutrients. Just 15 berries a day will help you keep your body in good shape.
