The problem was very simple to solve – I took off the top cover, took out the cable reel. When the cable was pulled, two paws came out of the spool and caught on the grooves in the sleeve. I sharpened those paws a bit with a file, and now the mower starts up in half a turn! I was mowing 3 weeks old grass (almost knee deep) – there were potholes in some places, and I had to go over it again. Mows shallow grass easily in one pass, you only have time to shake out the grass.
You can mow uneven terrain with no problem, you just need to increase the mowing height in case of large uneven areas.
